Search for a liquid foundation Part 1

Face it, we ALL need foundation. I think it was Calvin Klein who said: "It takes makeup to look natural". Natural ehhhh... I reckon it takes makeup to look good..

OK so up until this point I have been quite lucky with my skin, and had been using nothing but mere powder foundation, either Natio loose powder or MAC compressed powder.

However since starting at beauty school and practicing facials weekly, my little sebaceous glands have been firing into overdrive from all the stimulation. I needed something a bit more substantial to conceal the present eruptions on my face, so off I marched in search of... a LIQUID FOUNDATION.

All the while being totally uninformed and clueless about such products, I at least hoped that I would find one of quality that was also affordable.

But when I got to Farmers and started noseying around...YIKES! Found out that liquid foundation is rather expensive. Didn’t fancy forking out for a Maybelline or Revlon, thinking how much artificial muck they lump into it. Thirty dollars a pop? Noooo thanks.

Moved onto the oh-so-attractive ChiChi counter. Targeted at the young and glam. Spied a liquid foundation with some invariable reference to celebrity. Tried the lightest shade to suit my pasty complexion. Tried it on arm. Turned out bright orange. Would not blend. Clay-like. Did not investigate further. Shudder to think what it would look like on face. Eurrgh.

This is not the first time I’ve been disappointed by ChiChi foundation. I got given some of the mineral powder foundation for Xmas, which ended up having exactly the same result. Even the lightest shade turned me into a pumpkin. Do not know what they’re thinking.

These ChiChi mineral powders came in a set of three: a "Foundation", a "Finishing Powder" and a "Blusher".

Started off with the "Foundation."

Endeavoured to open the lid of the foundation. Got quite a shock. Although it specifically stated on the bottom of the pot "Light", the powder itself resembled cocoa powder.

Applied to face. This doesn't bode well.

Next applied the blusher. Sparkles in blusher so big they reflect light and make it look like I've got a large smattering of whiteheads all over my cheeks.

Lastly, applied the finishing powder to polish off the look.
Complete disaster.

Sooo... not a great incentive for continuing use of this product. Unless you're one of these:

...let's not go there.

In conclusion, ChiChi's foundations are certainly not their strong point.
BUT their lip products and eyeshadows are rather fab. Might do a post on them later.
